As a reader of the monthly Equity of Care electronic newsletter, we wanted to inform you of our efforts to streamline and enhance the communications you receive on topics related to health equity, diversity and inclusion. The contents of the Equity of Care newsletter soon will be integrated into a newsletter produced by the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Institute for Diversity in Health Management (Institute), which is leading the efforts for the #123forEquity Pledge to Act Campaign to eliminate health care disparities.
The AHA has made health equity a top priority. Through the #123forEquity campaign, we seek to build on and accelerate the efforts of the National Call to Action to Eliminate Health Care Disparities launched in 2011 by the AHA, American College of Healthcare Executives, Association of American Medical Colleges, Catholic Health Association of the United States and America’s Essential Hospitals.
More than 1,400 hospitals and 50 state and metropolitan hospital associations have signed the pledge already. If your hospital or health system is ready to take the health equity journey, please consider signing the pledge today. We have resources to help you achieve your health equity pledge goals.
Since 2011, Equity of Care has created more than a dozen reports, toolkits and guides to educate the field on addressing disparities and promoting diversity. Our webinars, blogs and newsletters have highlighted current practices to encourage dialogue and support performance improvement in the field. All of those resources remain available at www.equityofcare.org.
